Frequently asked questions
The answers, without the detour
What the tool does, what it does not, the data it rests on, and what the subscription costs.
The tool and its boundaries
Does Sweengs give investment advice?
No. Sweengs is an educational decision-support tool. It is neither a financial investment adviser nor a portfolio manager. The signals it shows are the output of technical rules you set yourself, not personalised recommendations.
Do you execute orders on my behalf?
Never. Sweengs connects to no broker and places no order. You remain the only decision maker and execute your trades with your usual broker.
Do you have access to my brokerage account or my holdings?
No. No bank connection, no aggregator, no broker credentials are ever requested. You enter the positions you want tracked yourself, and the tool sees only what you hand it.
Who is the tool for?
For an individual who already invests in stocks, alone, over a horizon of days to weeks. It assumes you know the basics: placing an order, reading a chart, understanding what a stop is. It does not assume you can write code.
How it works
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Strategies are composed from the interface: you pick conditions, thresholds, a stop and targets. No code is needed to build, test or automate a strategy.
When does the scan run, and what do I have to do to trigger it?
It runs on the server after the close, with no action from you. You choose when you want to be told, at the close or before the next open, and the results arrive by notification and email, with the app closed.
Can I start from an existing strategy rather than build everything?
Yes. Ready-made strategies ship with the tool, already measured over the history. You can use them as they are, duplicate them to change the thresholds, or start from a blank sheet.
What happens once the position is open?
The tool tracks the levels you set: the stop moves to break-even once the trade gains the equivalent of its initial risk, half comes off at the first target, then a trailing stop is adjusted session after session. Every closed trade feeds your journal automatically.
Data and backtests
What data do the backtests rest on?
On ten years of daily history. A backtest measures what a rule would have returned in the past, under idealised conditions, without liquidity friction and with the fees you enter. Past performance is no guide whatsoever to future results.
Which markets are covered?
Currently the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, which is 2,291 stocks filtered by market cap and liquidity. Continental Europe and developed Asia are ready on the technical side and will be switched on as our data provider plan is upgraded.
Are fees included in the results?
Yes, and it is not optional: you enter your commission and your estimated slippage, and both are deducted on the way in and on the way out. A backtest that ignores those two lines overstates any strategy that takes many positions.
Does a good backtest guarantee a good real result?
No, and that deserves to be said plainly. A backtest rules out ideas that did not hold. It predicts nothing. The gap between test and reality comes mostly from three things no history contains: execution, the context specific to each stock, and exit discipline.
Account and subscription
How do I create an account?
Sign-up is open: create your account from any button on the site, with no card and no commitment. Sweengs is in beta. Every feature is free during this phase, and the occasional rough edge comes with it.
Can I cancel whenever I want?
Yes, with no minimum term and no cancellation fee. Your access stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
What happens to my data if I leave?
You can export your trading journal at any time, and request deletion of your account and the data attached to it. The detail of each processing activity and how long it is kept is set out in the privacy policy.
How do I reach you?
Through the contact form on the site. Requests are handled by one person, so expect a few working days rather than an answer within the hour.
